How much do we spend on children?

What I'm going to tell you that you don't know. In families where there are small children, expenses soar.

A report entitled The Spanish market of products and services for children between 0 and 5 years made by Todo Papás, reveals interesting facts about how much and what do parents spend in Spain.

These are some of the general conclusions of the study to highlight:

  • Almost half of the families spend between 5,000 and 7,000 euros for each child, 25% of their income, with an average expenditure per child of 5,422 euros per year.

  • Three out of ten families allocate more than 30% of the family disposable income to the support and care of the children, which is a great effort considering that a mortgage takes 40%.

* Expenses increase with the child's age up to three years. Then they go down a bit. That is, babies up to one year spend relatively little until they start to incorporate food and, above all, to go to daycare centers.

  • Most parents with one-year-old children spend more than 5,000 euros a year to cover their needs.

  • 27.2% of parents with two-year-old children spend more than 7,000 euros a year, making the range between 24 and 36 months the most expensive period of our children, from birth to five years.

  • After three years, expenses begin to decrease. The study awards it to the fact that there are more public places in schools and we no longer have to spend so much money to pay for private education.

  • What we spend the most is on food, followed by health and hygiene, education and clothing, as the main expenses.

So then ask why the Spanish do not want to have children.

The report gives more information about what products we buy, which ones we prefer over others and why, how much we allocate to the first child, the second and the rest.

In short, a lot of data that we will analyze in subsequent deliveries.
