Advice to save on the purchase of formula milk

In Babies and more we encourage and defend breastfeeding. Its advantages are indisputable, both for the mother and the baby, but they are also for the pocket. In addition to beneficial breast milk, it is free.

But various circumstances mean that it is not always possible to breastfeed the baby, having to resort to formula milk to feed him, which is a considerable expense in the family economy.

A fellow of Ahorro Diario, the blog on responsible consumption of WeblogsSL, who is also a pharmacist, tells us how you can get to save more than 175 euros in feeding the baby during the first 5 months.

He explains that in pharmacies only medicines have a fixed price throughout the national territory, except in the Canary Islands where they are exempt from VAT. The rest of the items, such as formula milk for babies, have a variable price assuming considerable savings if we buy from a pharmacy or another or any other establishment.

He has done a study on the expense of 5 months of artificial feeding for the baby. He chose one of the best-selling brands, Blemil Plus Forte 1. According to Ordesa, a baby would need a total of 25 boxes of Blemil Plus Forte 1 during the first five months of his life.

The price is around 18 euros each, but there are pharmacies that sell the same product for 25 euros. Depending on where the milk is purchased, the cost would be between 450 and 650 euros, achieving savings of between 175 and 200 euros.

The key is to visit establishments in the environment where we live to compare prices and buy in those that have the most competitive. In these times of crisis it is well worth taking the time to do a little research before buying.
