I have known the books of many years Taschen, thanks mainly to the VIPS that exposes them and lets them consult freely in the reading area. The problem is that each time these centers increase the space of restoration and food to take away reducing that of magazines, books and we don't even talk about records because those, directly, have become extinct. Recently I went through a VIPS again and there was the last book of Taschen called Genesis with the spectacular images of Sebastião Salgado yet price of 50 euros (approximately). By size (520 pages, 17 deployable), by weight (recommended lectern) and especially for the quality of the book, the price is even reasonable. However, in the VIPS, and many will know that they have spent some time in the area of the bookstore before entering to eat or drink something, Taschen books are the ones that after a while lower them and leave them at a price more affordable In return, of course, you have lost the immediacy and widespread passion for the work. In the case of Genesis, I don't know if one day they will lower it, it seems to me that It is a book to save and dive from time to time in it For the beauty of his images.
While the book is lowered, I totally recommend visiting the exhibition of Genesis at Caixa Forum of Madrid. It is an incredible set of images where the nature expresses itself in all its greatness. Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado started in 2004 Genesis and For eight years he has been concerned with enjoying the nature of the Earth and collecting it in this extraordinary collection of images. Salgado is a black and white teacher although he achieves gray tones in his wonderful portraits that give the image an extraordinary strength and visual impact. In the image that illustrates the article you can see him in one of his exhibitions in Brazil making a gesture that when he did it in front of the animal of the image it seems that the gorilla imitated him obtaining the photograph.

The first destination of Genesis was, in 2004, the Galapagos Islands. From then until 2012, Salgado made a total of 32 trips to carry out this tour of the virgin world, with stops in Antarctica, Madagascar, Botswana, the Virunga park on the triple border between Congo, Rwanda and Uganda, Alaska, the Colorado plateau in the United States, Siberia and the jungle of the Amazon, among others.
The exhibition is presented for the first time in Spain in CaixaForum Madrid It's formed by 245 black and white photographs and shows landscapes, animals Y people set in polar regions, tropical forests and savannas, scorching deserts, mountains dominated by glaciers and lonely islands.
The dates of the exhibition are from January 17 to May 4, 2014 at CaixaForum Madrid, in Paseo del Prado, 36 in Madrid. It is an organization and production of Obra Social "la Caixa" with the curator of Lélia Wanick Salgado, woman of the photographer.
