On September 26, 2014, European researchers night is also celebrated in Madrid

The European Researchers Night It is a project of scientific dissemination promoted and financed by the European Commission, under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). It's about a program to promote scientific careers in Europe, which is part of Horizon 2020 an initiative that promotes research and innovation in the European Union. The night is celebrated simultaneously in different European cities since 2005. In 2013, 300 cities from 33 countries participated. In the Community of Madrid the event has been held since 2010 thanks to the promotion and coordination of the Knowledge Foundation madri + d.

On September 26, the European Night of Researchers Madrid 2014 offers 25 free activities in different locations in the Community of Madrid, between 4:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m. which will be organized by 18 institutions and in which 300 researchers participate. Its main objectives are to bring the figure of the researcher to the citizens so that they know their work and the benefits that it brings to society, encourage the choice of a scientific career among students and promote entrepreneurship among young people.

They are the researchers of the different institutions those who design the activities. And they are all convinced of the importance of these actions, both to promote scientific vocations and entrepreneurship and to bring their work closer to citizens and thus obtain their social support. The satisfaction they get from the enthusiastic response of the attendees more than compensates for the time they spend and encourages them to participate each year with new ideas and presenting projects full of interest.

In the European Night of Researchers Madrid 2014 participate 18 institutions, whose experience in the design and management of activities ensures that we can enjoy the whole family:

  • National Cancer Research Center (CNIO)
  • National Center for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC)
  • Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO)
  • Madrid Institutes of Advanced Studies (set of IMDEAS, IMDEA Water and IMDEA Energy)

The European Night of Researchers in Madrid offers activities for everyone, for the oldest and the smallest, for future researchers and for those who already are, for families, curious, passionate about science, for those who want to change the world through innovation. You can have a "scientific appointment" with a researcher, apply computer science to the study of the heart, collect chicken eggs and study them, etc. You can also learn about Collaborative Production of Common Goods, cloud computing, ICT, meteorites and fossils, physiological parameters, statistics, the Sun, crystals, renewable energy, succulent plants, water, groundwater and the ocean, discover new applications of biotechnology or chemistry. And also know the difference between a normal car and a Formula 1 in addition to knowing what it is and how a company is managed.

We must thank the Foundation for Knowledge madri + d for the launch and promotion of this initiative because the STEM competitions in Spain They are declining as Mamen Salcedo recently commented on Peques and Más.

It is very important to note that Reservations of places can be made as of September 15, 2014 and that you have to check the availability for each activity using the website.
