These are the grants and benefits offered by the Autonomous Communities to families in 2018

A few days ago we reviewed the state aid offered by the Government by birth, adoption and childcare, and today we want to review the specific aids offered by the different Autonomous Communities in Spain.

In addition, we remind you that when talking about aid and benefits (whether in maternity / paternity, as in any other aspect) we must also take into account those offered by Local Corporations, so don't stop asking at your Town Hall If there is any help, scholarship or any other advantage that you could benefit from.

Andalusia

In the portal of the Ministry of Health of the Junta de Andalucía we can find the rights, helps, benefits and public benefits that are granted during pregnancy, birth and child care.

  • Financial assistance for families that at birth third or subsequent child have another or more children under three years old (see requirements here)

  • Financial aid for multiple births that will be paid in a single annual payment, during the three years after the birth or the constitution of the adoption or foster care permanent or preadoptive in the following amount:

    • 1200 euros in the case of the birth of two children
    • 2400 euros in the case of the birth of three children
    • 3600 euros in the case of delivery of four children
    • 4800 euros in the case of delivery of five or more children

  • Measures offered by the Ministry of Education Family support, such as morning classroom, extracurricular activities, school canteen, free textbooks (from 6 to 16 years old) and school transportation in certain cases (see requirements here).

  • Free medicines and health products for children with less than one year, provided they have been prescribed by the family doctor or pediatrician.

This measure, a pioneer in Spain and included in the Support Plan for Andalusian Families, aims to strengthen the protection of health in early childhood and help to meet the economic costs of the arrival of a child.

  • Free basic dental care and certain special treatments for children between 6 and 15 years old. To consult the coverage and where to request assistance, see the conditions here.

Aragon

The Government of Aragon grants aid for families residing in this Autonomous Community with children born in multiple births or from multiple adoption. If you are in this case, you can check the application requirements by clicking here.

Asturias

Apart from state aid for maternity, the Government of the Principality of Asturias does not grant other specific aids by birth or childcare to residents in this autonomous community.

Balearics

Apart from state aid for maternity, the Government of the Balearic Islands does not grant other specific aids by birth or childcare to residents in this autonomous community.

Canary Islands

The Canary Islands Government offers financial aid for family foster care for minors in the Canary Islands. To consult more information about the process and application deadlines you must click here.

Cantabria

The Government of Cantabria offers the following maternity / paternity aids:

  • Subsidy to mothers for the birth or adoption of a second or subsequent child, calculated according to the income as well as depending on the place of residence of the mother and her condition as a large family (to consult all the requirements and conditions you must click here).

  • Subsidy for third or subsequent child 1,500 euros (check here)

  • Subsidy to mothers for birth or multiple adoption in the same procedure (see more information, here)

The amount of the subsidy will be 2,000 euros for the case of double birth or multiple adoption, and 3,000 euros for the case of triple or higher birth or adoption. It will be paid in single payment. These amounts will be increased by 1,000 euros for each born or adopted child with a degree of disability equal to or greater than 33 percent

  • Subsidy for a child under three years old for mothers residing in municipalities equal to or less than 2,000 inhabitants. This subsidy will be granted per calendar year and will reach the amount of 100 euros per month for each of the minor children whose mothers meet the established conditions. The amount will increase by 100 euros per month when the child has recognized a degree of disability equal to or greater than 33 percent.

Castile and Leon

The Junta de Castilla y León recently announced reconciliation support aids aimed at compensating the decrease in income of workers who exercise the rights to reduce working hours and leave of absence for childcare.

The amounts are 1,500 euros, in general, for the exercise of leave or reduction of working hours for a minimum period of six uninterrupted months, and of 3,000 euros for cases of leave or reduction of shared work, exercised consecutively and correlatively during the minus 12 months

Castilla la Mancha

The regional government of Castilla la Mancha offers financial aid to large families that meet the requirements. Orphaned siblings of father and mother under guardianship, foster care or guardian who live with the guardian, welcoming or guardian, but not at their expense, will also be entitled to these grants.

Catalonia

The Generalitat of Catalonia offers aid to families with one or more children born, adopted, protected or foster between July 1, 2017 and December 31, 2017 (both inclusive) and between January 1, 2018 and June 30, 2018 (both inclusive), provided they do not exceed a limit income (see more information here )

Madrid's community

As we told you a few weeks ago, the Government of the Community of Madrid has announced a deduction of 600 euros per year and for three years for each child born or adopted from January 1, 2018, date on which this increase envisaged in the Regional Budget Act of 2018 has entered into force.

In the case of multiple births or adoptions and international adoptions the amount corresponding to the first year will be increased by 600 euros for each child. The limit to apply this benefit increases to 30,000 euros in individual taxation and 36,200 euros in joint taxation.

In addition, these other grants are added:

  • Deductions for international adoption 600 euros to the generic deduction for birth or adoption of children.

  • Deductions for foster care of minors, 600 euros for the first child received, 750 euros for the second minor and 900 euros for the third and subsequent. This deduction will be applicable to taxpayers whose income does not exceed 25,620 euros in individual taxation or 36,200 in joint taxation.

In case of family foster care of minors, a deduction will be applied

  • Deductions for families with reduced income and for educational expenses: Deductions of 10% in the autonomous quota for families with at least two children and an income of less than 24,000 euros, and deductions for educational expenses corresponding to school expenses (15%), acquisition of clothing for exclusive school use (5% ) and language teaching (10%) up to a maximum deduction of 900 euros for each student son during the second cycle of the Early Childhood, Compulsory Education and Basic Vocational training stage, as well as for language teaching.

Valencian Community

Apart from state aid for maternity, the Generalitat Valenciana does not grant other specific aids by birth or childcare to residents in this autonomous community.

Estremadura

The Junta de Extremadura offers several grants aimed at reconciling family, personal and work life:

  • In order to facilitate the maintenance of the activity of autonomous workers in cases of risk during pregnancy, maternity, paternity, adoption or preadoptive or permanent foster care or risk during breastfeeding, as well as favoring the hiring of the activity of persons employed at home, to facilitate the reconciliation of family life and Employers' staff, as well as improving the integration into the labor market of people employed in the home (more information, here).

  • Aid for hiring employees employed by hogar as well as for the maintenance of such contracting, as a measure of reconciliation of personal, work and family life (more information, here).

  • Aid for interim contracting of unemployed people to replace working people who enjoy the right to leave or reduce working hours for reasons of caring for sons or daughters or dependent dependents (more information, here).

Galicia

The Xunta de Galicia offers the following grants for birth, maternity / paternity and childcare:

  • "Welcome" card: It is a financial aid of 100 euros per month that is granted from birth until the baby reaches his first year of life of the child. In the case of income less than 22,000 euros, an extension of this aid may be requested until the minor turns three years old. To request the card and check conditions you must click here.

  • Aid in a single payment for children or children under the charge

  • Childcare grants and scholarships

The Rioja

The Government of La Rioja offers the following economic aid in adoption and foster care:

  • Aid for adoption abroad with the objective of giving economic support to families that adopt minors outside our country, to alleviate, in part, the great economic outlay caused by the process. To consult conditions and amounts you must click here.

  • Financial benefits for families that receive legal or administrative assistance to minors who are protected by the Government of La Rioja. Basic aid is configured as a generic economic support to all welcoming families, aimed at promoting this type of child protection. Murcia

Apart from state aid for maternity, the Government of the Region of Murcia does not grant other specific aids by birth or childcare to residents in this autonomous community.

Navarre

In both 2016 and 2017, the Government of Navarra offered aid to autonomous workers to favor the reconciliation of work, personal and family life.

For 2018 there is, for the moment nothing published but do not forget to check on the website of the Government of Navarra the news that may arise in this regard.

Basque Country

The Basque Government offers three types of aid to families:

  • For each dependent child, in cases of birth, adoption, pre-adoptive foster care or guardianship of children under 18

  • You help by multiple birth or multiple adoption of 2 or more children

  • You help by international adoption of children adopted in foreign countries
