Suerotherapy in pregnancy

Suerotherapy is the intravenous administration of fluids that are accompanied by minerals or medications required by the person receiving it. It is the usual treatment for a person who is hospitalized, as there are sera destined for each need in order to provide what the patient needs at all times.

The pregnancy therapy It is also used for therapeutic purposes, for example in the face of hyperemesis gravidarum. This problem occurs when there are continuous vomiting that harm the health of the mother and as a consequence also the fetus. With the administration of serum with nutrients that the pregnant woman is unable to tolerate orally, it is possible to improve the general condition and not continue losing weight.

Another situation in which suerotherapy is used is for induction or stimulation of labor. If the gynecologist wants to start childbirth due to fetal risks or other problems, even if the mother has not yet fulfilled, oxytocin suerotherapy is administered, this substance, which is also released naturally at the time of delivery, acts causing uterine contractions. In oxytocin suerotherapy, this substance is started by administering in small doses that may increase according to the response obtained while observing the contractions and tolerance of the mother and the baby.

Suerotherapy is also used to stop a preterm delivery by administering drugs that try to stop the contractions, or in case the pregnant woman is in a dangerous situation for the life of the fetus and her own, as an excessively high tension.

Fortunately, this therapy hardly shows contraindications, since they are used in small doses and in the form of salts for better absorption.
