UNICEF shows data that affects the majority of the population, true business and transnational structures exploit the so-called child sex tourism using nothing less than to 1.8 billion children to benefit economically. The profit generated amounts to about 9,000 million euros, a figure that can provide us with adequate awareness of the seriousness of this problem.
Children of all ages are mired in this very serious problem, getting out of it is practically impossible if they don't get help. The "companies" directly or indirectly responsible for this problem, turn a deaf ear to the crushing violation of the rights of children, in the mind there are only numbers and economic benefit.
The child who is subjected to sexual abuse ends up suffering very serious consequences that will mark him for life, this in the best case, since others end up committing suicide before the impotence of not being able to avoid the situation. Despite the fact that society is one of these events and actions to stop tourism and child sexual exploitation are intensified, this detestable business continues to grow, thanks to new technologies, rapid and simple geographical mobility, pedophiles can campaign practically at ease.
A necessary task is the intensification of controls and stronger legislation in those countries where child sexual exploitation is the claim for certain tourists. This is not a problem that we have to contemplate as distant, it affects us much more than we can think, many of these pedophiles live with us, in our society.
Recently Intervida organized the I International Conference on Tourism and Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children, where various organizations such as the World Labor Organization, the World Tourism Organization or the International Organization of Migration among others met. An analysis of the prevention policy was carried out, the legal advances achieved, new ways of action were sought that allow the problem to be tackled more forcefully, etc.
Many are the child victims who remain anonymous being invisible to the eyes of society, in all of us there is the solution for this situation to change and children can recover their childhood, for now, lost.
