The influence of McDonalds marketing on young children

I have read a news in Yahoo news, referring to the influence that Mc Donald's advertising has on children That should alarm all parents.

The results of a study conducted in the United States among 63 children whose ages were between 3 and 5 years, found that most children said that the same meal tasted better if it was packaged as if it were from Mc Donald's.

The children were given 5 types of food: chicken nuggets, hamburgers, chips, baby carrots and milk. The first three of Mc Donald's and the other two bought at a local store. The 5 types of food were divided into two portions, one wrapped or packaged as if it were from Mc Donald's and the other portion placed in a paper bag or regular container without any logo. A good part of the children said that the food they perceived as Mc Donald's tasted much better, even in the case of milk and carrots.

According to experts, the only thing it demonstrates is how advertising can literally brainwash our children and influence their preferences.

The study appears in the August issue of the Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine.

Apparently Mc Donald's has responded that they are trying to handle the problem and justify themselves by saying that now in the United States only happy boxes are advertised with chicken nuggets (white meat), apple wheels and low milk in fat, looking for children to have a "better diet."

The truth is that parents should be aware of the influences to which our children are exposed and we must ensure that for their own health, they acquire the best eating habits since childhood.
