One of the most spoken languages in the world is Spanish and it is a language that all children in our country should learn and that should be accorded the same importance that is given to other languages, such as English.
Why do we say this? Through the 20 Minutes newspaper we have been able to know a negative aspect of the teaching offered in Catalan schools, in Catalonia no subjects are taught in Spanish except for the Spanish language, the rest of the subjects (except English) are taught in Catalan. In this video we can see that there is no Catalan school in which a child has access to study the subjects taught in Spanish and there is no possibility of combining both languages. The video that shows 20 Minutes is an evident proof, in it, a supposed mother requests information from the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya to know where her son can be educated so that he can master Spanish as well as Catalan, giving the different subjects In both languages, since, we assume that for work reasons, parents sometimes have to change residence, and Catalan does not serve them in other parts of the country. The answer is clear, in Catalonia the teaching is in Catalan, there is no possibility to combine both languages.
Curiously, there is the possibility of accessing an educational center where some subjects are already taught in languages other than Catalan, some schools are already teaching math classes in English, why not do the same with Spanish?
It seems a taboo subject, it gives the impression that the Castilian is discriminated by giving preference to other languages. We believe that it is necessary for Catalan and non-Catalan children living in Catalonia, to learn Catalan correctly, but it is also important that they can learn in Spanish, English, French, German, in fact each parent should be able to choose how their son receives the teachings.
