Deny adoption to a couple due to obesity

Yesterday I saw in the news a case that caught my attention, and that is that in the UK it has been Denied adoption to a couple because the husband has obesity problems. This measure, which as you can imagine has left the couple down, is within the "persecution" of obesity that is taking place in the United Kingdom, where it is a problem that affects a large part of the population.

However, I wonder if denial of adoption is appropriate in this case. I understand the cases in which an artificial fertilization is denied to a woman because she is obese, since her condition of overweight could endanger the pregnancy. And taking into account the number of women waiting for assisted fertilization, it would be logical to prioritize those most likely to have the pregnancy come to fruition.

But in this case we are talking about an overweight father, obesity is not spread and would not affect the child. According to the authorities, the health risks and perhaps premature death of a morbidly obese person are an element to consider in adoption.

In that case, he, in the same way as women who want artificial fertilization and are obese, should be helped in their disease.

The man is Damien Hall, which weighs 156 kilos and is 37 years old. He and his wife, Charlotte, 31, have been married for 11 years and during all that time they have tried to have biological children, without achieving it.

The marriage resides in Leeds, and the City Council will allow you to submit the application if the husband loses weight. Have they offered help for this, when we know that many cases of obesity do not depend strictly on the will of the patient, but need treatment?
