The Ministry is requested to promote the development of a unique platform for access to digital content in the classroom

Last Wednesday, the National Association of Editors of Textbooks and Teaching Materials (ANELE), requested the Ministry of Education to promote development of a unique platform for access to quality digital content similar to those already being implemented in countries around our European environment.

A joint project of all Educational Administrations is demanded that allows an adequate incorporation of the new technologies to the classrooms, economically sustainable and with quality contents that replace the current disorderly planning. And in Spain there are 17 digitalization models, all of them diverse, however there has been no correlation in training spending, or access to quality digital educational content.

Creation of a unique platform

In the words of José Moyano (president of ANELE) 'This proposal is based on the reflection made by the publishing sector specialized in educational content after analyzing the evaluations that have been carried out of the pilots developed in communities such as Catalonia, Andalusia, Castilla y León, the Basque Country, the Valencian Community or Murcia, among other'.

In other countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom or Finland, a model based on the economic / personal efforts of Administration and companies and the development of a single platform that guarantees quality in resources is beginning to work successfully. In these places, access to the plurality of contents offered by the set of educational publishers is also facilitated, and the protection of data on minors and intellectual property is taken into account

The development of this state strategy could contribute to continue with the success model that has been developed in the paper educational edition that has been exported to Latin America. 'We have the opportunity to maintain the positioning of the Spanish edition in this continent. If we are not able to develop appropriate solutions, other actors will come and move us, which will be a brake on the expansion strategies of Spanish and our culture. '

Hybrid model for classroom teaching

And since digital content cannot completely replace the classic book, it should be borne in mind that For learning it is essential to train students who are competent and able to access information through all existing supports. "Although it may seem so, it is not the same to learn certain questions in a medium as in another, not all students do it in the same way in some as in others."

According to the studies, the educational content in the form of a book, regardless of the format in which it is presented, continues to be the main tool available to teachers to carry out their daily work. Parents also consider it essential for the education of their children, both at the center and at home. In addition, students express the need to work with them to consult what they have learned.

ANELE considers it necessary to address the digitalization strategies of the classrooms from a hybrid model to ensure that students acquire all the necessary skills.
