NH Hoteles offers accommodation to relatives of patients of the Pediatric Hematology Unit in Sant Joan de Déu

This is very good news for family members of patients of the hematology unit of the Sant Joan de Déu maternal and child hospital, where 350 to 400 cases are attended annually.

I can imagine how hard it can be to have a child admitted away from the family home, and that's why I liked knowing that the hospital and the Josep Carreras Foundation against leukemia have signed a collaboration agreement with NH Hoteles, to facilitate a room to patients and their families at the NH Porta de Barcelona. This room is offered to families who, for reasons of distance from their place of residence, they need accommodation for the duration of the treatment, and they do not have the financial resources to pay for it. The action that is specified in the offer of accommodation plus breakfast, is part of the company's social action line (Up! For Hospitality).

Last month the first family of the program that will be offered for short stays has already been lodged, and the valuations will be carried out by the Social Work service based on the family's economic situation, and the distance from the address.

It is certainly a very necessary service since between 20 and 30 percent of patients served by the Pediatric Hematology Unit from Sant Joan de Déu, they are displaced families that may require a place to reside during the treatment.
