Researchers' Night will be held next 28 in more than 300 European cities simultaneously. In Spain the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology and the Community of Madrid develop two programs for the 2012 edition (and coinciding with the year of Neuroscience in Spain and the International year of sustainable energy).
The Night of Researchers, Madrid 2012 under the slogan “Spaces for meeting researchers to enjoy science”, will be held on September 28 at different locations in the Community of Madrid. The FECYT proposes 'Researchers with a lot of energy' with the contribution of several research entities, in other places of the Spanish geography.
In the Community of Madrid and between 18 and 24 hours will be developed different festive and recreational activities (a total of 18 acts in different localities of the Community), whose protagonists are both citizens and researchers.
The main objective is to bring researchers closer to citizens so that they know their work, the benefits they bring to society and their impact on everyday life.
It is a unique occasion for foster scientific vocations among young people. But above all to have the opportunity to establish a direct dialogue with researchers in the framework of recreational activities, carried out in scenarios different from their usual places of work. In short, give prominence equally to researchers and citizens.
And (organized by FECYT) in Barcelona, Lleida, Oviedo, Badajoz and many other places, They will host meeting spaces with researchers, and experiments, workshops, demonstrations, competitions will be developed, etc., although from the morning of the same day, schoolchildren from each of the cities may participate in a Scientific Gymkhana.
