Attention to meteorites!

A week ago we were surprised to see how a meteorite hit Russia and left tremendous damage to buildings, windows, doors and physical damage to several Russian citizens. So the infographic que ha creado Tim Lillis (in English) and that illustrates the article we find it very interesting to explain and understand a little more about the fact that the Earth is a round stone that circulates through space and destroys everything it finds in its path, although of course, We are riding on it and suffer the consequences.

Since Microserves they have dared to translate it and here we reproduce it for clarification:

  • Kite: a piece of ice and rock that comes from the most remote confines of the Solar System
  • Asteroid: a rock in orbit, usually between Mars and Jupiter
  • Meteoroid: larger than a grain of sand but more than small in an asteroid. If it hits Earth it will be a meteorite
  • Meteor: when a piece of rock enters the atmosphere and begins to burn leaving a trail of light. We usually call it a shooting star
  • Meteorite: when a meteor is not completely destroyed in the atmosphere and one or more pieces fall on the surface of the Earth

We thank Tim Lillis (@Tim_Narwhal) that has allowed us to publish his image (with all rights reserved) and that has also encouraged us to see more of his content on this page specialized in illustration, graphic art and data visualization and on his Narwhal Creative site. He has also told us that is happy to help kids learn a little bit of science.
