These days we have seen a lot of videos on television in which they appeared Spanish people speaking in English, with difficulties and with very better pronunciation, which have been the subject of laughter and widespread teasing in the media. At home one of these videos we were watching to see what mistakes the person who was talking was making and try to realize how easy it is to do things wrong and how difficult it is to strive and achieve results.
And I think that in Spain we have a lot fear of ridicule mainly because half the country makes fun of the one who is wrong and because it seems that it is difficult to recognize doing things well. And to do things right, you have to take risks, and face the challenge with discipline and effort and try to get out. So although these people who go on television have many limitations, the truth is that you have to recognize their courage to face television, the audience and the ridiculous. Because it takes a lot of courage to appear in public speaking in a language that is not mastered and knowing that one hour after the intervention will be present in all radio and television newsletters. And also, with the new technologies, which is going to be trending topic on Twitter, which is going to be part of the most watched videos of the week on YouTube and that the television programs that feed on other people's images are going to analyze, dissect and twist them to make it seem the most despicable being in the known universe.
And yes, I think if we laugh at the misfortunes of others all we get is to be more limited, more mediocre, more ridiculous and we limit the chances of taking risks and moving forward just at a time when it is essential to break the inertia that sadly brought us here. And our children are already seeing that their surroundings do not like them and they already think of a new future in which the mockery will be what least worries them.
So, and whether people like us more or less or like us better or worse, it seems to me that we have to teach our children to respect others, to learn to strive, to overcome ridicule and to try again and again. once even if they fall many times.
