Small habits that can provide great benefits

Create an organized environment, educate in the use of free time, generate healthy habits, and setting standards are things that all parents can do at home, and that have an important impact on the learning process of our children. But, remember that we should lead by example, because there is nothing that disorients the smallest of the house more than saying a word thing, and acting in a manner contrary to the facts.

Trying to connect with children, listen to them, know how they feel, be interested in their things and play with them is very emotionally healthy. Good habits, including eating habits, are learned. And it will be much easier to learn them if we do it in a fun and special way for them.

Learn good habits

Children, even if it seems a lie, also need to know what they have to do and what is expected of them. To feel safe they need routines. For this reason, it is important that parents establish and enforce schedules and rules of behavior, even through games or times when, learning a habit, they can have fun.

It is good that children have schedules to eat, to study, to do extracurricular activities or to dedicate them to leisure, and as they get older, we can go entrusting them with small responsibilities so that they participate in housework.

Doing it together with them and with small games can make it very fun. We can also play with small prizes that motivate them to do so, but the fewer prizes and more game there are, the happier they will be doing things themselves, with nothing in return!

Feeding

Here are some tips that can help us make breakfast, lunch or dinner a much more special moment, while learning good eating habits:

  • Turn off the TV when we eat
  • Do not skip meals
  • Make a balanced breakfast
  • Eat a healthy diet with fixed times for meals
  • Parents should lead by example. Children learn by imitation, and will want to do and eat the same as their parents
  • Important that the family feels to eat at the same time, and all together to make the meal times special for them.
  • Share, at least once a day, the family table
  • Schedule what we will eat in advance
  • Enjoy food presenting them well
  • It is also good if we can get food presented in a fun way or even help us prepare it

Leisure and free time

  • It is good that children practice some sport every day or encourage them to play with games that involve some physical activity in the park, in the urbanization or even in the street
  • Select what they see on television
  • Search for age-appropriate programs
  • Do not abuse time in front of television or video games, there is nothing better than playing without audiovisual media to develop other capabilities
  • It is good that we attend to our children, we listen to them, we are interested in their things and also that we play with them

Sleep and rest

For children to perform well in school they must rest well, and sleep the necessary hours.

  • They must have a fixed routine
  • Bathe and dine early
  • Avoid watching TV a long time at night before bedtime
  • Try not to do very busy activities before going to bed
  • Go to bed early and read for a while before turning off the light
  • Get up with enough time not to hurry and have a good breakfast

A good and healthy lifestyle from the first years of life helps to that children consolidate healthy habits that can have an impact on a better quality of life in general.
