Happy Weekend: a festival full of good humor for families. Interview with Alberto and Carmen

Today I present to people who have created an event called Happy Weekend that will take place from August 29 to 31 in Morella (Castellón). Is about a festival for very attractive families, which they have endowed with unique characteristics. I have thought that if you have the opportunity to attend (because you live in the Valencian Community, or you will be spending a few days on the Costa de Azahar, for example), you would like to know, so stay tuned.

Our protagonists today are Alberto and Carmen, and they have spent many years dedicating themselves to music, play, and raising their children. They tell us that some time ago they began to unite the two areas in which they had professionalized (play and music); the only thing that maternity and paternity live intensely, makes most of the initiatives and projects that they develop, are oriented to the participation of entire families.

I leave you with them, and with the interview we have done.

Peques y Más.- Happy Weekend is a festival for families, I congratulate you for this very necessary initiative, but what I want you to tell us is how you differentiate yourself from other experiences that may seem similar.

Alberto and Carmen.- Each proposal of family activities is unique, conceived for the specific place and occasion. Our festival has some aspects that we want to highlight. First, that all the activities we propose are for all ages, there is nothing only for children or adults only. We believe that there is already enough supply in both directions and that it is good for mothers, fathers, girls and boys to share their experiences.

Another point that we find interesting is that the event includes camping as usually happens in other music festivals. It is also important to note that the leitmotiv of Happy Weekend it's the good mood. There will be nothing didactic or "to think", what we want is to contribute something that we all need, and more in these complicated times: laugh and have a good time together.

PyM.- How did you come up with the idea?

A / C.- We have been planning the festival for eight years now. Then there was no offer for the whole family, nor the following years. We begin to schedule concerts for the whole family, games in which adults also participate and whenever we have had occasion with other projects, we have included this feature. For several reasons we could not hold the event so far. We see clearly a need for many families to spend more time together and dedicating ourselves many years ago to the organization of sociocultural events and projects, we have considered that now was the time given a greater awareness of the importance of sharing adult experiences with children.

When it comes to children, the importance of the playful aspect is curiously minimized. We have chosen the musical performances thinking about the sympathy, freshness and good humor of the performances

PyM.- The event is not only music, not just music and workshops ... tell us a little more, please.

A / C.- I have already commented before we want people to have fun. When it comes to children, the importance of the playful aspect is curiously minimized. We have chosen the musical performances thinking about the sympathy, freshness and good humor of the performances. The workshops will be participatory and fun.

The areas and spaces we propose are a way of providing the festival with other experiences. There will be a space to test skills with circus elements, an area dedicated to free play with La Ludoneta, family olympics, gymnasium, a space of sensory experiences, baby zone and parenting as a meeting point for families of young children where they can also rent baby carrier, comic silent cinema, a journalists workshop where young and old will become the reporters of the event and we are closing more offer of activities.

In each of the programming points we have placed affection and enthusiasm, but it may be the "laboratory of laughter" the space with which we are having more fun in preparation. During the three days of Happy Weekend in Morella, the public will be able to come to him when he wants to laugh with what he sees and hears.

The impulse to play is part of human nature, such as making music. If mothers and fathers play with their children they have the opportunity to better understand the children

PyM.- You propose games for the whole family, why do you think parents and children need to get involved playing together?

A / C.- Rather than needing it, it is essential for a good relationship between mothers / fathers and children to participate in the world of children. The impulse to play is part of human nature, such as making music. If mothers and fathers play with their children they have the opportunity to better understand the children, which leads us to be more accommodating, more patient and more empathetic. Further, play relaxes and moves us away from the tensions that cause us to comply with the conventions. Children are great masters of life, playing with them gives us the opportunity to reverse what is established so that the world generally intends to fit children into the lives of adults. Instead, it is beneficial at the emotional and family level to reinvent our life together.

PyM.- What has led you to choose as Morella as the 'headquarters' of Happy Weekend?

A / C.- We wanted it to be a beautiful place, to offer the public incentives in the surroundings, to be a population not very large because of the family atmosphere it offers, to welcome us with the same enthusiasm with which we created the festival. Morella was offered, we opened the doors to its beautiful population and we are very happy to be able to do it in one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. Morella has a lot to offer apart from the castle and the aqueduct, surely families will like to visit the population's dinosaur museum, but it also has native food and clothing products, excursions can be made around the environment and there is an offer of Active leisure around the town.

PyM.- And finally, perhaps one of our readers needs a push to decide. I leave it in your hands: do you convince us to join the 'good vibes' of the Happy Weekend 'family event'?

Today, Happy Weekend family event offers a unique opportunity to say goodbye to the summer in style. Happy Weekend is emotion, conviviality, show, music. It can be the last date of the holidays, a detour before returning home and ultimately a good way to scratch a few days of family fun.

After the interview, I put you on the event website so you can consult the necessary information (subscriptions, accommodation, activities ...). I agree with Alberto and Carmen that the place where it will take place is unbeatable, and I sincerely believe that many families will be happy to attend Happy Weekend, to spend a few relaxing and fun days.

I add one more reason for those who would like to go but you still have to decide: if you live in the Valencian Community you will know that here the classes will begin on September 3, so the occasion is ideal to forget all the nerves associated at the beginning of the course and the return to work, don't you think?

And no, I don't forget, thanks to Alberto and Carmen for lending us a few minutes of your time, it has been a pleasure (you know that).
