Yours, mine, ours (but without messes): Guide of reconstituted families

Sometimes it is not easy to start a family again. A larger family, different, with new members, that children are often given without asking and without wanting to. There are many problems that couples who want to try again find themselves and this guide of reconstituted families intends to help them.

Recall that the reconstituted family, that is, that formed by couples who contribute sons or daughters of a previous relationship, is a growing model in much of the world. Specifically, in Spain the reconstituted nuclei with a minor son or daughter have increased from 3.8% to 6.2% from 2001 to 2011.

The guide addresses the fundamental aspects to take into account in the process of family reconstitution, including a special chapter to read as a family: "Lorena's Story", with a clear and direct language to reach everyone.

It is an orientation manual to understand the operation of this family structure and to publicize what are the fundamental aspects for face positively the process of family reconstitution.

It is not bad at this point to remember some tips for the new family to work, such as taking time to adapt, create a cordial relationship between the two homes, trying for example to negotiate with the biological parents the responsibilities of the upbringing, that there are coherent rules in both homes ...

It is an expensive and probably long process, for which this guide is intended. And it never hurts a help in new situations that may overwhelm us. It is important that we think about children, their well-being and their needs and in the end family ties usually arise and there is a solid union in a new family nucleus.

The Guide for reconstituted families is free and can be ordered from the UNAF website. It is a publication of the Union of Family Associations UNAF and I think it can help those parents who try again with another couple, especially when it also brings children to the new family nucleus.
