New Born Fame: baby's first "selfie" is here

A Big Baby Brother, a small-scale Truman Show, a transmission to the world of how our son grows, how is it, what are their customs, even the school they go to or where we live. Have we considered the great amount of information about our children that we launched into the world? What would happen if they could send their photos to social networks?

96% of the mothers of children under three who use Facebook share photos of their children online. We don't know how many parents would be in the same case, but I guess the percentage will also be high. The point is that, With a few days to live, our children are already part of the internet and we can't control those images anymore.

Are we really aware of that? Would our children want to be exposed that way? These questions are what the creator of "New Born Fame", a toy for babies to make their own "selfies". It is a mobile pendant for the crib that incorporates stuffed animals with the Facebook logo and the Twitter bird.

When the baby touches the cubes, the device is activated to take a photo or video that is published on the networks, we imagine that in the account with which it is associated. That at this point, it can be that of the parents or the baby itself, since it is increasingly fashionable to "reserve" profiles for newborns.

The New Born Fame is the graduation project of the Dutch designer Laura Cornet at the Eindhoven Design Academy. Actually, I did not want to market your product but to affirm with it that we are exceeding this issue and to raise a debate. He succeeded, and there were those who were shocked at toy for babies selfies, but as expected, there were also those who wanted to acquire it.

Therefore, after some and other reactions, the creator is working to redesign the prototype and market it with another function. It would be about the toy sending the baby's photos and videos to the parents' phone.

But where do we think they will go next? Well, from there, whoever, to Twitter and to Facebook or Instagram, of course ... It won't be so easy to "free" the Internet of children's portraits, even because thanks to inventions like New Born Fame babies will have their first selfies... whenever parents want, of course. Later it will no longer be in our hand.
