This Christmas toy is: Lego Minecraft

Since I have children I have come to realize that every Christmas there is one or more toys that are sold out to the point of despair to parents, who fail to find what their children ask for in their letters from Santa Claus or the Kings.

If a few years ago this toy was the house of Mickey Mouse, the following year it was the turn of the Monster High and the next year that of Peppa Pig.

Last year I don't remember any episode about it, or if it happened, I didn't find out. This year it seems that many parents suffer again, this time that I call this Christmas toy: Lego Minecraft.

What is minecraft

Minecraft is a video game. If you are reading this it is because you very likely know him, but just in case, I explain it. It is a video game that came to break all the molds. At a time when the gameplay was losing a lot of prominence and the video games were trying to get an increasingly realistic image, at the cost of penalizing enjoyment and handling, it came suddenly Minecraft, with some square graphics, huge pixels and that we have seen the evolution of the games made us and makes us say "how shabby".

Come on, at first glance, it's an ugly nose game. However, it began to penetrate among people because it gave the player many possibilities of creation or destruction. Tools for the character, very extensive worlds and, attention, an increasingly growing community of players who made their own levels and games so that other people could play them both individually and multiplayer.

The PC game was ported to the consoles and arrived in a pocket version for mobile phones and tablets. In the Apple App Store it is always one of the best sellers, in fact. Hundreds of youtubers They started recording their games, commenting on them, and hundreds of thousands of children got hooked on these videos. Come on, I think there shouldn't be many parents who don't know Vegeta 777 to TheWillyRex and his Minecraft apocalypse.

Such was the success of the game and such the possibilities of it, that many schools use it in class for students to work cooperatively, building for example a house, decorating the interior, passing roads through the area, etc.

Lego and Minecraft

In fact, there are such possibilities that there are many people who, to explain what Minecraft is to someone who has never heard of the videogame, says "it's like the Lego, but in videogames." And of course, with such a phrase, it was already taking Lego to partner with the creators and launch a dedicated line.

This year, finally, they have done it (last year, I think I remember, they took out lots, but it was all tiny and quite frustrating for the children) and they have created several lots with minifigures of the characters and some of the best known scenarios. We have, for example, one of which will surely sell more: the first night. In the "Survival" mode, the game consists of starting the day game and start looking for a hiding place (or creating it), making you have the resources to spend the first night, when a series of monsters appear that will have no qualms about ending you.

Another lot is the farm, where the character has animals and a plantation to obtain resources, the cave, where he will meet a zombie and a spider, in addition to more resources, the mine, which is one of the largest, the set of the Ender Dragon, with several Endermen and the aforementioned dragon and the Working Table, which is a set that brings together different pieces to give the child more freedom.

Well, when I saw everything that Lego had prepared I said "this runs out in 3, 2, 1 ...". So when they went on sale last month I ran to ask (not all) for my children. I got it right because they've been sold out for a few days everywhere.

In Amazon they are almost double the original price (sold by third parties) and this trend is what the sets also carry on ebay. If there are even those who are already putting prices of more than 100 euros.

A shame that you get to speculate on toys, but it is one of the franchises that will play the most. On the lots will come the instructions to build what Lego proposes and surely my children follow them to the letter, at least the first time. Then, ideally, it will be to disassemble everything and keep the instructions for ever and ever so that children can do with their hands what they have been doing on the screens for some time. Create without limits.
