A father explains to his son that flowers can do more than weapons after the attacks in Paris

Maybe at home you have talked with your children about the attacks in Paris. They talk about it on TV, at school, on the street and although there are those who prefer to keep their children away from exposure to the news, it is not always possible.

Little Brandon and his family live in Paris, and his father wanted to take him to leave floral offerings in the Bataclán room, where 89 people lost their lives. There he was interviewed by a journalist from Le Petit Journal, in which the boy seems scared, to which his father explains that flowers can more than weapons, and manages to reassure him.

The journalist asks the little boy if he understands what is happening, if he understands why the terrorists attacked Paris on Friday night. The child is worried because they are "very very bad" people and because he must change his house, to which the father replies that he does not worry, that they will not have to move.

"But they have weapons," the boy replies. "But we have flowers," says the father. "But flowers do nothing." "Of course they do," says the father, "they are to fight the guns." "And the candles too, are to remind people that they are gone." To which the child concludes: "Ah, the flowers and candles are to protect us".

Although in their small minds they fail to understand what terrorism is, (many adults don't understand it either) this father has given his son an emotional explanation full of meaning.
