Five changes (and startles) that you will notice in your pregnant belly

During pregnancy the belly is the part of the body that most obviously undergoes changes and is that it has to take in the baby. But, apart from the increase in size, there are other issues about the belly to consider during pregnancy. These are five changes (and shocks) that you will notice in your pregnant belly.

During pregnancy the uterus increases ten times its weight and 500 times its capacity, the baby is gaining weight until reaching three and four kilos on many occasions, and various hormonal changes occur. This will determine that the belly undergoes certain changes, sometimes annoying, sometimes very desired.

Punctures or pulls

The muscles that support the uterus have to make a great effort, especially in the last trimester of pregnancy. That is why many women will notice pulls in the lower belly, similar to cramps on occasion, or punctures in the sides of the gut or the English, due to the distension of the abdominal muscles.

Yoga can be used to stretch and flex the muscles so that discomfort is minimized and the pregnant woman also has to control the changes in position and movements so that they are not abrupt.

In Babies and moreThe nine most frequently asked questions about a belly in pregnancy: all the answers

Itchy bellies

Stretching the skin and hormonal changes often cause itching of the pregnant belly or gestational itching, especially if you have very dry skin. It can feel like an unpleasant tingling and sometimes discomfort is more intense and what can be done to mitigate it is to hydrate the skin frequently or resort to creamy products with oatmeal or chamomile ...

Avoid scratching and wear loose cotton clothes. If you have granites that itch at the end of pregnancy, this is a rash during pregnancy (usually along with stretch marks)

Hardening

From the second half of pregnancy, but especially in the last trimester, you can feel how the belly hardens and tenses at small intervals, especially around the navel, generating some discomfort but no pain.

They are the contractions of Braxton Hicks, "false contractions" that prepare the uterus for the arrival of the baby. The most common is that these contractions are noticed more at the end of the day due to the accumulation of fatigue of the day.

Stretch marks

Unwanted but very frequent companions (about 60% of pregnant women will develop stretch marks in the gut), since the skin of the abdomen is stretched and the fibers with less elasticity break, creating these marks.

Although it is not always possible, we remind you that there are some tips to try to prevent stretch marks, such as maintaining good hydration (inside and out) and maintaining a controlled weight gain. Sometimes, as we have noted above, stretch marks are accompanied by an itchy rash: consult the gynecologist.

In Babies and more I am pregnant and my belly gets hard, what is the reason?

Kicks

It is undoubtedly the most anticipated change and that causes more emotion. Around the 18th or 20th week of pregnancy the baby's movements in the belly begin to be noticed, since before it is too small to notice. At first, the mother may feel agitation in the lower abdomen, rather, butterflies or bubbles.

The expected kicks will take a little longer to notice, towards week 24, when the baby is more active and has greater muscle development. From week 26, the strongest kicks and "startles" can arrive, since the baby presents the prehensile and startle reflex, (for example as a reaction to a loud sound, an abrupt movement or a startle of the mother ... ).

On the contrary, when the birth date approaches the lack of space determines that the baby's movements are less noticeable. Of course, in the second and subsequent pregnancies it is more likely that the baby's movements feel earlier.
