Coordinator for new family policies

It gives me much joy, satisfaction and hope to publish that a Coordinator for new family policies and that he is discussing the content with the different political parties and trying to reach commitments that help families in their daily lives.

At the moment, officially the great help that politicians offer to mothers with young children is promises of free schooling from 0 to 3 years old: that is to say, "go both parents to work and the state (and one girl every 8 children) will take care of your babies / small children"This option is interesting for a sector of the population but not for everyone. It is also quite questionable.

We are also many parents who would need other measures to raise our children ourselves without disappearing from Social Security, the world of work and simply from the world.

¿It is a utopia? Of course not, since many European countries do not have nurseries until 2 years old and even in several years, schooling begins at 6 years old, and their children get better grades in the Pisa Report. They are not more illiterate because they spend more time with their families.

This Coordinator follows the European line and claims: "TIME and RESOURCES to take care of our children"based on 4 basis points:

  1. The revaluation of parenting through greater economic and social investment
  2. That all mothers and fathers can access effective measures of work and family conciliation without labor or economic penalties
  3. That all mothers, sons and daughters can access effective prevention measures against gender violence
  4. Support services to families from the birth or reception of the child.

And for the fulfillment of these points they demand a lot of measures that you have detailed in its manifesto and among which I highlight the following:

  • Double the GDP dedicated to family aid
  • Maternity leave of 52 weeks for the mother and independently 6 weeks for the parent or other parent
  • Working day reduction without loss of purchasing power the first 3 years of children's lives
  • Home assistance to the mother during the first weeks after delivery or reception
  • Supports to the Breastfeeding during the first 6 months
  • Other alternatives to daycare centers: creation of a system of caregivers / es in domestic spaces; support for educational models other than school; family spaces and support to initiatives of families, groups and associations that seek to develop mutual assistance in care
  • Cities “friends of boys and girls” with services and proximity spaces for intergenerational meeting in neighborhoods during non-school hours

¿Who are behind this manifesto? Assoc. de Famílies Monoparentals, ADDIF adopted i acolliment, Crianza Shared, Famílies Lesbianes i Gais, Grup GEMMA, Grup Marató amb Nadó, Red Las Mujeres Count, Revistes “Viure en Familia” and “Crianza Natural”, Associació Quetzal.

All this is far from the current situation., as was the democracy of the dictatorship, the incorporation of women into the world of work, the free and universal health system, etc.

By the way, these demands are very similar to what children ask politicians: time with their parents.

Walker, there is no way. It makes its way to walk.
