Lleida adds to the attention to non-medicalized delivery

The Arnau de Vilanova University Hospital of Lleida adds to the care for births in a non-medicalized way. On February 27, the new mother and baby plant was inaugurated, which puts into practice the basic needs of a respectful care for childbirth and the newborn.

They already have a dilation bathtub, but now they add a series of essential reforms to guarantee privacy and respect for the creation of the link.

The idea is, in the words of the Regional Minister of Salut of a Generalitat, make a "more human" hospital. There have been reforms in this regard: the maternity rooms are going to be all individual and the nest has been removed. The intimacy and tranquility that mothers and children need to get to know each other, strengthen the union between them and start breastfeeding will undoubtedly be reinforced by this measure.

At the level of organization and protocols, profound changes in the conception of neonatology will also be introduced. The attention to newborns will be carried out in the same area of births to keep them closer to the mothers.

In addition, newborns who have complications and need to be admitted to specialized units may also be with their parents, since they will have access to these services at 24. They will not separate babies or at birth to perform routine check-ups or in case of admission. And that, together with the willingness to attend normal deliveries without medicalization not necessary, is great news for the ilerdenses.
