Chronicle of the first school year (II)

A few days ago I told you how the first school year had been from my oldest daughter, the entrance to the school, the adaptation period, everything learned, her new friends ... There have been some marked dates throughout the course, with school parties or extracurricular activities that she has enjoyed a lot.

In addition, parents have tried to get involved as much as possible in the "homework" of the school, and although we are a disaster in this appointment and some meeting of the AMPA happened to us, but not the meetings with the teacher (well summoned by her, well claimed by us, once a quarter) and we have done our "performances" for the whole class.

School parties

The course has been marked by important dates on the calendar at the level of special activities in the school. Surely I forget some ...

  • On the Day of the Valencian Community they had a party with costumes of Moors and Christians and learned a song and a dance.
  • Halloween was a horror costume party.
  • In autumn, the Chestnut Day also took place, which dressed as chestnut sellers and had a party.
  • At Christmas there was a show with Santa's dressed class.
  • For Father's and Mother's Day he made crafts that he kept with more or less secrecy (and some were waiting).
  • For Carnival there were several days of activities, with accessories of the theme "animals" and finally costume party.
  • For the end of the course, performances, water festival and end of course function, on different days (the truth is that there were already a lot of fatigue at this point ...).

Some of these appointments became somewhat heavy, especially the Carnival week, in which each day there was a different activity. Looking for costumes or accessories at the last minute I do not like too much, we have to be more proactive, we already know for next year.

Many of the accessories we made at home as crafts with my daughter, which is laborious (of course, more difficult than buying them), but the result is great. We shared at home the realization of the "little jobs" that Mar often carried, related to the topics seen in class.

Excursions and activities

As to the excursions, there has been one per quarter, and they have served them to learn a lot, to eat outside the home for the first time with excitement, to release a backpack, see animals on a farm ... among other things.

The first quarter there was an excursion to a leisure park. One of his first bus trips. In the second quarter they went to a farm where, for example, they learned to make bread. At the end of the course they visited a castle. What I would have liked to see what they did on these sites! Before some parents could accompany on the excursions, but it seems that it has been decided that it is best to accompany monitors.

The visit to the castle was related to the last quarter project, which dealt with the Middle Ages and castles. For each quarter it was a topic, and the kids and we could do all kinds of jobs, proposals, activities, collect photos, bring books, color drawings, make crafts ...

They have been very fun activities that, as I say, we have done with my daughter, even parents have visited the school on a couple of occasions to carry out some activity in class for all children (we have dramatized a story and played music in a representation). We have also recorded a video at home (precisely a medieval dance) that children have seen in class.

The truth is that the willingness and encouragement that the teacher gave parents to participate in school activities has been one of the things that I liked the most about her and one of the main reasons why her distress March.

I already told you that the teacher does not return next year, so we will miss her, but surely there will be an opportunity to meet a new or a new teacher and that the next course is just as exciting and stimulating as the past.
