Exhibition "Air. Breathing and child health"

"Air. Breathing and children's health ”is an interactive and didactic exhibition Designed and produced by the Roger Torné Foundation with the aim of inviting reflection on the influence of the environment on children's respiratory health. Currently you can visit Cosmo Caixa Madrid.

The sample has been conceived to offer quality information regarding the risks and consequences of environmental aggressions and possible prevention measures. It is also intended to promote awareness of the need for progress in pediatric environmental health.

It is an interactive experience indicated especially for living with family or school visits that shows an increasingly evident reality in the health of children in industrialized countries. As you have to take care of respiratory health since childhood, it will certainly be an interesting visit for children.

And is that the exhibition establishes a relationship between the child's respiratory health and the quality of the air you breathe. It is structured from four areas (mother's womb, house, school, street), moving from the most intimate and personal space to the most global, from family responsibility to that shared with administrations.

Within each area, environmental risks and prevention are discussed, and special emphasis is given to the actions necessary to enjoy a healthy environment and prevent diseases, especially respiratory diseases, such as asthma.

At the same time we talk about the Special vulnerability of children to air pollution, both for its anatomical and metabolic characteristics, a topic that we often talk about in the blog.

It is an interactive exhibition, with the aim of making it fun and suitable for children and adults and that results in a reflection on the situation, without pretending to instruct, but to inform and give elements that promote a more conscious look at the importance of air In the health of children.

As we can see, a very interesting and close topic since currently in industrialized countries, three times as many people died from asthma twenty years ago, despite the pharmacological and hospital care advances that have taken place. The child population accounts for 40-45% of all cases of asthma.

The exhibition “Air. Breathing and child health ”can be seen in Cosmo Caixa Madrid from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. until November 18 with the entrance to the museum (children under seven, free). Guided tours are made at certain times.
