Children's readings for the summer

I think that one of the most stimulating and enriching activities we can all do during the holidays is to read a good book, in any format. They provide us with dozens of good times wherever we go, and they hardly take up space in the suitcase or purse.

I know that sometimes it is difficult for us to select the readings that our children will take, so we have brought the Kirico Club resource consisting of an advanced search engine where you can choose books by entering different data to make a more appropriate selection for the reader than any reading guide. Although they tell us from this club that guides also have available, as well as publications such as '150 children's books to read and reread'. For those who cannot physically approach one of the Kirico bookstores, the possibility of acquiring the selected books is offered through the Todostuslibros booksellers page.

If your child likes witches, aliens, mystery or humor, everything is in this space where books appear with their cover photo and a very comprehensive explanatory review prepared by Kirico booksellers. And best of all, you can choose the batch of books together, exchanging ideas about which can be more fun, interesting, surprising ... so it will not be a plan imposed

And to end the review dedicated to Kirico, we announce that they have prepared a proposal for 'refreshing readings'. We find stories, illustrated albums, poetry, information, with a variety of themes and different ages.

We will find 'Dad's hands' for babies; 'Bear butterfly net' for children from three years; 'A poem in the belly' intended for children over six years; 'The mysterious epidemic', since nine years; or 'The lighthouse of the absent woman' for preteens over 12 years old ... among many other volumes

And these are our recommendations

  • 'Cloudy with meatball possibilities', written by Judi Barret and illustrated by Ron Barrett, has been edited by Corimbo. In the small town of Tragaycome the weather changes three times a day, but this is not the most surprising because it may rain soup and hamburger storms arrive. When the weather worsens the portions become huge and everyone should look for a solution. From five years.
  • Kalandraka has reissued 'Frederick' and 'Nadarin' that next year marks 50 years since its creation in 1963. They are the work of Leo Lionni, without whom the history of contemporary children's and youth literature would be incomplete. This writer has enriched the lives of many generations of girls and boys around the world, and stands out for its timelessness.
  • A book for young children from four years: 'What will I be when I grow up?' by Nicola Davies and Marc Boutavant, edited by Juventud. A delightfully illustrated story that answers the question, what do babies become when they grow up?
  • 'Victor Yubacuto and the vampires'Although Victor is a normal boy, he would like to live in a comic, but when summer arrives his family plans to travel the route of Count Dracula. The ghost of Melon (Victor's mutant friend) chases them to Transylvania and everything gets complicated until they have just become vampires. Adventures for children over nine years. It has been edited by Edebé, and written by Maite Carranza.

We would very much like this information to be useful for preparing your particular selection of holiday readings. Now tell us: what books are your kids going to read this summer?
