A collaborative project has been created to provide information on child and adolescent health: PediaClic

Few weeks ago that PediaClic It has seen the light: it is a collaborative project involving pediatricians, family doctors and nursing professionals and biomedical documentation, from Spain, Mexico and Argentina.

Not infrequently parents feel confused at the excess of information (or 'poisoning') to which we are subjected when searching for information on child and youth health on the Internet. Professionals are also exposed in some way to get unwanted results in this search.

And so, PediaClic offers us that quality information that comes from reliable sources and that can solve us more than one doubt. Although the truth is that it is always advisable to consult with our nearest health professional, but it is not always easy to succumb to the temptation to find out more about the health problems that our children present. It is also very important that we are informed while having the ability to talk with the children's pediatrician. The truth is that in addition to the difficulty of finding acceptable results, the fact is added that until now the relevant information in other languages of the Spanish and Latin American field has existed but being more difficult to recover or without giving it the importance that it certainly deserves .

PediaClic is a set of personalized search engines for information on child and youth health. It is aimed at both health professionals and families. The information included in the various search engines must meet some general criteria.

The general search appears on the PediaClic home page. When performing any search, the information that is returned appears classified by categories, each corresponding to a specific type of document

  • Clinical practice guides

  • Systematic reviews

  • Evidence-based summaries

  • Health Technology Assessment Reports

  • Clinical questions

  • Pediatric magazines in Latin America

  • Pediatric magazines of Spain

  • Health Blogs

  • Pediatric texts online

  • Information for families

The final version will arrive after the summer (the one released this month is the beta) but In its current version PediaClic can now be a very useful search tool. In addition to the general search engine, PediaClic also has ten additional specific search engines, each focused on a type of document specified above.

The enormous amount of information available on the Web has made necessary the creation of these search engines that allow you to delve deeper into the tracking of specific information: clinical practice guides, evidence-based summaries, information for families, etc.

The PediaClic project was born with a spirit of inalienable public service. In the sections dedicated to each specific search engine a link has been placed that leads to the insertion code of each search engine. From PediaClic it is not only allowed but the dissemination of its search engines on those websites or blogs that want it is stimulated by inserting the corresponding code.
