Errors in the pediatrician's supplementary feeding sheets: placing food during the day in an immovable way

After commenting on some errors that we can find in the complementary feeding sheets days ago, today we are going to talk about another error that can occur, such as place food on the daily menu in a specific place immovably.

I mean explain that cereals are given in the morning, then there is a breast or bottle, at noon the vegetable porridge with meat, then in the afternoon the fruit goes and finally, at night, another breastfeeding or feeding bottle. And this is how it is more advisable to say that it is, because of course, the fruit, for example, is better in the afternoon (I speak ironically, of course).

Everything in its time?

“Doctor, look, you told me last month that the fruit porridge was given to us in the afternoon, for a snack, but of course, I work in the morning, so if I could give you the fruit porridge in the morning, I would I would give my mother and so in the afternoon I breastfeed, since I want to continue giving him… ”.
"Well, umm, let's see, you would have to give the fruit in the afternoon, it’s better… although, well (I’m doing you a favor) if they give it to you from time to time in the morning… nothing happens either. ”

This could be a dialogue between a pediatrician and a mother, absurd but not able, but that can be heard in any pediatric clinic in any city in the country. I say absurd because, once again, if we use common sense, the fruit is taken by a person when he wants or when he can, but not only in the afternoon.

If not, why does nobody pull the fruit from my hands when I eat an apple and a pear in the middle of the morning? Why does nobody tell me that is not good? Why do we eat so badly, that there are people who drink fruit at noon, when should I drink it for a snack?

Well, the same thing that happens with fruit also happens with other foods. Cereals are in the morning, yes or yes, according to many pediatricians. It is not that it is wrong, that it is not, but hey, if a mother wants to breastfeed before leaving for work and then whoever stays with the child who gives cereal, fruit and food or whatever it takes, will not be doing it wrong precisely.

There are those who give them in the morning and there are those who give them at night. Here I would say: "do it as you want, but at night it doesn't make much sense to load a lot of calories, because the body doesn't burn them." The rest of the day, hey, when you want.

Vegetables and meat are given to eat, this more or less all explains it in the same way and in a way it sticks a lot with a meal (first vegetable and second meat). But hitting does not mean you have to eat at noon yes or yes. It is simply a matter of habit, that there at noon, when we sit for a good time to eat, it is a real meal and not something faster like a snack.

Parents have to have more freedom, because it is advisable to eat everything at all times

When the parents ask me what time they give the fruit, or at what time the cereals always tell them the same thing: "When you want, mount it as you see better." Some parents remain calm knowing that they have the freedom to feed their child in a manner similar to their own and others remain misplaced, blank, lacking in ideas and begging for a more concrete pattern, a more specific response (as I am not a bad one either person, who asks me for more concrete I give it more concrete, but telling him to adapt to the child, of course).

The truth is that the best thing for children is to eat like adults, a little of several things within a meal. I don't know any adults who eat as badly as babies (wrong? Did you say wrong?). Babies drink, according to the recommendations, only milk, then milk with cereals, then only vegetables with a little meat, then only fruit and the rest of you take only milk.

It is true that their dairy needs are greater than ours, but no adult divides meals into groups during the day (now only milk, now only fruit, now only vegetables), but distributes them, even repeated, at various times of the day (Vegetables at noon and at night, fruit in the morning and at noon, protein at noon and at night, etc.).

This is done for a very simple reason: food, to be better absorbed and to better utilize nutrients must be eaten with other foods from other groups. Surely you will all know that lentils are legumes rich in vegetable proteins that do not assimilate too well if they do not mix with any cereal, well, to alleviate that, many people make them with rice, causing proteins to assimilate in such a way so that they are comparable to those that come from the meat, with the addition that they do not have the fat of the meat. Similarly, when eating foods rich in iron, it is better to accompany them with some citrus (fruit) and so with many other foods that, together, improve their availability and take better advantage.

By this I mean that Ideally, babies should eat several foods each time they sat down to eat., being even more absurd that of "the fruit in the afternoon or the vegetable at noon".
