Disney icons "fashionable". Was it really necessary?

Doesn't it happen to you that, suddenly, you are surrounded by the Christmas spirit even in the absence of more than a month for your arrival? Do not misunderstand me, I love Christmas. Well, rather, the spirit of Christmas and what this party really represents, not the consumerism that the big brands or the big surfaces take us to.

And it is that Barneys, one of the great chains of luxury stores in New York City, has already prepared its Christmas campaign, which is not far from the controversy since it has decided to dress the “fashionable” Disney icons, as you can see in the photo that heads this post.

What do you think? Do you think that Minnie, Daisy or Goofy are fashionable? Or on the contrary they have been victims of the canons that want to mark us? And more importantly, how do you think this change in the look of some of our children's favorite children's characters will affect their way of seeing things?

There is no doubt that many of the old glories of cartoons have to reinvent themselves in order to survive in the 21st century, but is it necessary to reach these extremes? And, according to David Freedman, the creative director of the well-known chain of stores: "... the standard Minnie Mouse doesn't look good in a Lanvin dress".

Faced with this argument, I cannot say anything other than: "what are you telling me!". Minnie Mouse will always be Minnie Mouse, and seeing her differently, like the rest of her friends, doesn't produce anything other than bewilderment since I don't recognize them. It is impossible for me to see the old adventures of Donald, Mickey, Goofy and the rest of the gang dressed in those clothes and with the figure they show.

But I am not the only one who is amazed by this change of look of Mickey and his friends, since since the initial drawings were known, opinions and controversies were also born in various media, to the point of being born the “Leave Minnie Alone” movement where they talk about repercussions that these images will have among children.

Anyway, I think this idea of carrying the “fashionable” Disney icons It will bring a lot to talk about in the coming months, especially now that Christmas parties are so close. But most importantly, that these drawings do not make me forget, or my little tampocos, the wonderful moments that I still remember with great tenderness when Goofy cleans the bell of a clock and falls in love with the doll in the form of the Statue of Liberty that gives The chimes What times!
