Learning to prevent: a guide to avoid injuries to children

Accidents, falls and blows are very frequent incidents in children. It is believed that they are a consequence of bad luck, but many times they could be avoided, since they have more to do with the lack of attention of adults than with chance.

To provide useful tools to parents, Baby Due, together with the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu (HSJD) and the Toy Technology Center (AIJU) have published the Safety Guide “Learning to prevent” to avoid injuries to the little ones.

In half of the cases, accidents that occur at home in which minors are involved could have been avoided. That is why it is essential that caregivers have good information to try to reduce injuries in children.

In "Learning to prevent" (pdf), caregivers are offered recommendations to protect children, and advice to avoid risks based on their age. It ensures that the best prevention is the constant supervision of the child, avoiding exposure to certain incidents that can lead to an injury.

Before the year, the most frequent incidents in babies are immersion or suffocation, followed by traffic accidents, falls, burns and poisoning. Each year, more than 8,000 children between the ages of 0 and 5 are hospitalized as a result of unintentional injuries, all because of preventable injuries.

Therefore, since information is the best tool for prevention, we recommend you download the guide for free and we hope you find it useful.
