Do you want to check how the surface of the water reflects the light?

Proyecto Azul is a very interesting site that brings theoretical and practical knowledge about science to children.

They say that he was born was born in response to many of Martín's concerns, a little boy who is constantly inquiring about the how and why of the world around him

And now it is a very attractive project that has been nourished not only by Martin's questions (which was then five years old), but also by his friends, and the readers of Latin America. I bring you today an experiment that reveals a curious relationship between light and water. Let's see how light travels in a straight line, until it meets a reflective surface ...

Necessary materials

A (large) transparent glass or plastic container with smooth walls (such as those toy containers that walk around the house, water, a spoonful of milk, a flashlight (best of led light), black cardboard, scissors, adhesive tape.

How do we do it?

The water container is filled and a little milk is added to see the ray of light (If we exceed ourselves, we will see absolutely nothing because it will become an opaque set). Then we prepare a circle in the cardboard, with a diameter greater than the focus of the lantern, and we make a hole in the center, now we can fasten it with tape to the lantern.

We place ourselves in a dark room, and illuminate the container from below; We can conveniently move the flashlight until we find the most suitable angle. And once achieved, we will see the beam of light that rises, and then descends reflected by the water surface.

We have done it, and it has come out (to the third). It's worth a try.
