Add the bay leaf and water to cover all the ingredients and put it to cook. As soon as it starts to boil, we lower the heat, add the fried tomato and let it cook slowly for about 20-25 minutes. With a saucepan we remove the upper part of the broth to remove the fat that releases the sausage. That way the broth will be brown and not red.

In a pan we fry the very minced garlic clove, a quarter of an onion and when it is soft, we add a pinch of tomato sauce. Crush this stir-fry with a spoonful of the lentil broth with the blender and add it to the lentil casserole, letting it boil with them.

Remove the leek, bay leaf and onion, which we will discard, we try salt, - normally it is not necessary to add for the flavor that the sausage and ham bring -, and if the lentils are already tender, we let them rest.
