When art and fantasy help fight fear and pain: this is how many pediatric hospitals are transforming

Doctors who disguise themselves as superheroes, solidarity dolls that start smiles, sleeves with fantasy drawings to cover the chemo bags, magic formulas for children to feel they have super powers ... When it comes to humanize pediatric hospital care, any initiative is welcome.

And it has been demotivated that the children admitted significantly improve their mood and reduce stress and anxiety, when their cold and aseptic environment is transformed into a place full of color, light and joy. And in this sense, the decoration of the walls, rooms and corridors of the pediatric areas becomes very important.

Our country has a large number of hospitals that have proposed to brighten the stay of hospitalized children through drawings and their families But there are also many examples outside our borders, and today we show you a small and colorful sample of this precious initiative.

The color as the protagonist

Color, imagination and fantasy drawings can turn a cold hospital stay into a friendly and comfortable space, so that the children feel as calm and comfortable as possible in the moments that need it most (such as for example when performing painful tests, punctures, anesthesia ...).

For some time, numerous hospitals in our country have launched projects aimed at humanizing pediatric care, by decorating walls and creating nice and colorful spaces. In Babies and more Children's hospitals that fight disease with imagination

Foundations such as Juegaterapia, CurArte, Aladina, Anouk ..., private initiatives and even Fine Arts students who put their talent at the service of those who need it most, are some of those responsible for hiding behind these types of projects in which Art has a therapeutic purpose.

Here are some examples where color and illusion invade the play and rest rooms of pediatric hospitals, pain units, corridors, emergency rooms or rooms where children remain admitted.

When radiological tests invite you to travel

Sometimes it is also necessary to perform imaging tests to confirm a diagnosis or monitor a disease.

X-rays, CT scan, scan ... radiological devices usually impose on children, in addition to that sometimes they must face them in solitude. But if we replace the cold technology with the colorful seabed, the enigmatic space or the jungle, everything can change.

Wonderful and colorful initiatives that start smiles and invite you to dream. I wish all the pediatric hospitals in the world could have spaces like this, to humanize, a little more, the care of the little ones.
