A new male Koala named Kuna arrives at the Zoo Aquarium in Madrid

On his first day of adaptation, Kuna, who will turn 10 on September 22, 2014, was accompanied by one of his caretakers at the Duisburg Zoo and a team of Zoo Aquarium in Madrid formed by conservation, veterinary and their new caregivers , all of them expectant before the reaction of the koala in their first contact.

Kuna appeared in the space they have prepared for him, calm and relaxed, to observe his new surroundings and, immediately after, climb up to one of the branches of his interior bedroom to sniff and taste the first Eucalyptus leaves. We will still have to wait for the public to meet Kuna, since during these first weeks, it will remain in a private space to facilitate its initial adaptation where it will recover the usual rhythm of a koala's dream, Of nails 20 hours / day, in a conditioned environment at a constant temperature between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius. After that time, you will have your own exterior bedroom next to those of Caloundra Y Bengero. These little ones arboreal herbivores they usually live alone and develop little activity during the day, therefore, as a new male reproductive of the group, will only come into contact with the female during the usual jealousy that occurs in spring and summer.

In these first days, the newcomer will not only enjoy a lot of tranquility but also the most select food based on a Exclusive diet of up to 15 varieties of fresh eucalyptus transported especially from Huelva, on a weekly basis.
