Cleft lip

Have you ever heard of cleft or cleft lip?, this is a slightly rare congenital malformation that occurs on the baby's lip, the malformation occurs in one in every 750 babies. The consequence of this malformation may be due to some reasons such as a possible infection in the mother, a medication that was taken during the beginning of pregnancy or perhaps by genetic transmission.

This anomaly can be anticipated beforehand when it comes to a genetic transmission, since then all the relevant ultrasounds are performed around the lip of the future baby, but this does not mean that they can detect it, since the amount of liquid Amniotic or the position in which the baby is can significantly hinder this task.

If the baby is born with this malformation, the surgery is a saint's hand, because through it the baby recovers completely and will not have problems with feeding. This operation is usually performed after three months as a general rule, although it is the surgeon who will decide when the time is right to perform it. The question would be, if not operated until three months, meanwhile what ?, the pediatrician gives a series of tips to breastfeed the baby, helping you with a finger to cover the space between the lip and the nipple to so that the air does not pass and can suck much better. Although there are also devices specially designed for breastfeeding.

It also influences the degree of malformation and the shape of the palate, since with a cleft palate this system will not work and you will have to feed the baby with a syringe or with special bottles indicated by the pediatrician. The most important thing is that this malformation has a viable and happy solution, this helps a lot unlike other malformations whose remedy is very difficult or nonexistent.
