Little by little the town where we have spent the summer is emptying. There are hardly any vacationers left. The beach, even in the busiest area, is without people. The beach bars close. Friends pack their bags, leave in their cars on the road. The children leave, their parents already work or have to prepare books or uniforms for school. Some started classes this week and others will do it on Monday. Those who had a rented apartment left at the end of the month, and the few that remain seem to be leaving too.

The meaning of summer
Summers have a taste of freedom in my childhood memory, a season in which time passed differently, where we grew a lot in the human aspect and learned a lot from Nature and people. Now times have changed and not all children can spend three months on the beach or in the countryside.
I suppose that, like everything else, it will have its positive things, or, simply, that when faced with necessity, the good side must be sought. But I would not exchange those eternal summers for anything and I try to provide my son with these experiences. Summer meant freedom, self-knowledge and endless discoveries.
During the course there is little time. Children, after school, have extracurriculars and some, even in children, simple tasks. It's cold, and it doesn't go out so much anymore. Children go to school or not, few will have 10 free hours to play, explore, discuss and dream together.
All this means summer: a time and a way of life that I think is essential to build our personalities and for our children to build theirs, with their family and with their friends. Do you notice that I really like summer?
And now a new school year begins. Although for us the changes are minor, we also notice them. We miss the good weather, children have many obligations, perhaps too many. But we should still find time to keep the best of summer: being able to spend much more time together, accompanying our children in their growth, educating them while they educate us, and above all, loving them daily and sharing moments.
Ideas for the end of summer
All the beautiful things in life, even when it is to say goodbye to them, deserve a celebration. The end of summer, too. An end of summer party.
I propose to do it, at home or with friends, each in your own way, but not letting this moment pass to give thanks to life for these months of light, heat and overflowing life, for the laughter of children and the afternoons of the game eternal. Are they not things to be happy for?
