Lego presents "Braille bricks" so that children with visual disabilities can learn in a fun way

We all know the classic Lego blocks, which today are one of the most iconic traditional toys in the world. We have also seen how they have been used for other purposes in addition to playing with them, as a support to learn mathematics or also as decoration.

Now, the Lego company will give a very special turn to its blocks, after announcing the next launch of "Braille bricks", whose purpose is that children with visual impairment can learn braille in a fun way.

Through its Twitter account, the Lego toy company presented the most recent project of The Lego Foundation: a set of totally new blocks that will include the Braille alphabet, so that children who have blindness or a visual impairment can learn it.

In addition to having the braille alphabet marks, the numbers from zero to nine and the mathematical symbols, this new set the letters of the Latin alphabet will also be printed, so that sighted people can read it and help children while they learn.

Although the launch has just been announced, this one Braille brick kit It had originally been a proposal that had been made twice for The Lego Foundation: in 2011 by the Danish Association of the Blind, and again in 2017 by the Dorina Nowill Foundation for the Blind, based in Brazil.

At the moment this new line of legos is in probationary period in schools from Denmark, Brazil, United Kingdom and Norway, and it is expected that in a few months tests will also be done for their versions in Spanish, German and French.

As reported by Lego, the definitive Braille brick kit will have approximately 250 pieces of 5 different colors and it is planned to launch it by 2020, where it will be distributed free of charge to institutions, through the associated organizations.
