The Cultural Heritage Institute of Spain starts the children's workshops campaign: I have a Plan for children aged 8 and 12

He Ministry of Education Culture and Sports will develop, during the months of April, May and June 2013, a joint initiative of the Institute of Cultural Heritage of Spain and the Subdirectorate of State Museums, by which the little ones will be aware of the importance of taking care of our cultural heritage, in the field of museums. I have a plan It is a didactic, innovative activity, which this year will be held in the Madrid museums Cerralbo, Romanticism, Sorolla and Decorative Arts. This initiative will soon be extended to other museums under the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports.

As we are informed on the website, it is an interactive and guided tour of the museum's collections. The challenge is that children approach concepts such as the importance of environmental conditions (humidity, temperature, lighting), pest control, or the relevance of care in the handling of goods to preserve them. Their guides will always be heritage education professionals and will provide the children with the teaching materials designed specifically for this activity. After the visit there will be a workshop through which children can apply the knowledge acquired in their daily lives by producing a box to preserve their most precious personal assets.

I think the initiative of publicizing the tremendous Spanish Heritage among children is very important and from Peques and Más we support the initiative. We also remember that we have already visited the Museums of: Cerralbo and Sorolla for other similar initiatives.

On the website you can see that the inscriptions have already started so take advantage and do not miss the opportunity because they are free. Registration and activity dates are:

  • Cerralbo Museum: C / Ventura Rodríguez, 17. Registration period opens: March 22
  • The activity will take place on Saturdays April 13, 20 and 27, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

We congratulate Patrimonio for the initiative and hope they continue to have equally attractive proposals. If in Spain we have something to be proud of, that is the Heritage that is part of our history and is a very important and attractive asset For many people around the world. Knowing and taking care of it is essential, so the sooner the children begin to do so much better for everyone.
