"From them I learned", the song that sweeps the children and that will reach your heart

Many schools have prepared their end of year festivals with this song, and more and more children are humming it relentlessly. We are not referring to the catchy "Baby Shark", but to a beautiful song composed by David Rees and entitled "From them I learned."

I recognize that the first time I heard her sing to my children I did not pay too much attention, because I thought it was one of the many songs taught in the summer camp they attend. But when one day I stopped to listen to the lyrics I felt the emotion contained, and that's why I decided to share it with you, if you still don't know it.

Phrases that inspire

David Rees is the composer and singer of this beautiful song he has written using phrases of animation characters that have marked our childhood and that of our children. Accompanied by a simple ukulele and his sweet voice, the author manages to thrill with each of his stanzas.

Here you can see the video that posted on his YouTube channel and that in a few months has become viral becoming a real phenomenon among children.

Surely almost all the phrases that make up the song are familiar, but you may you have never stopped to think about the powerful message they convey, especially if you watched the movie as a child.

And it is often common to discover new readings when we see something again from an adult perspective!

In Babies and more The best animated films of all time

I have tried to make a selection of the phrases of this song that have inspired me the most, and I would certainly highlight:

  • "There are people worth melting for", alluding to the Frozen movie, and the beautiful message of brotherly love and friendship that its protagonists transmit to us and of which we already spoke at the time in Babies and More.

  • "Beauty is on the inside", refers to the message of the movie Beauty and the Beast, a message that we strive to inculate our children, but that being honest with ourselves, we should put into practice on more occasions.

  • "Remember me, even if I say goodbye", is the emotional teaching we learn from Coco's film, because when someone is truly loved, their memory will never disappear from our hearts.

  • "I must stop being something that I am not" It is the phrase repeated by Aladdin when he becomes a prince by magic, thus losing all his essence. A wonderful message that our children should always keep in mind, especially as they approach adolescence.

  • "Why do we have to grow up?", the children protagonists of the Peter Pan movie were repeated. This phrase is especially emotional, especially when I stop to think about the fleeting time and how fast my children are growing.

But without a doubt, my star phrase of the song is "keep swimming", from the movie Finding Nemo. How much teaching two simple words convey! How much life lesson in such a short sentence that summarizes the importance of not giving up in the face of adversity!

Show it to your children and sing as a family

Since I listened to it with the five senses, I can't get it out of my head, and I often sing it with my little ones, with special emphasis on the beautiful messages that it transmits to me.

Singing with our children is an excellent exercise in connection and fun, which not only helps us to deshinibirir, but to share a moment together that can also give us valuable lessons through its lyrics. Some have asked that the song be considered the official Disney anthem (Although not all the films referred to by its author are from this animation factory). And it is that listening to it is not difficult to feel the magic and illusion that Disney is accustomed to us immediately!

And you, What do you think of this song? Did you know her What phrase do you compose with?
